Energy efficiency options

By using our complete system of daylighting products, you will be able to control the light and heat gain to the level with which you are comfortable. The graphs below show the progression of protection and energy efficiency available from VELUX®.

Clear glass (for reference only)

Clear glass (for reference only)

VELUX® products are not available in clear glass and by looking at the chart it is easy to see why. The light blue color at the top of the chart represents the light and heat rays blocked by clear glass. The bottom line is that clear glass provides almost no protection from heat gain or heat loss.
Comfort™ glass

Comfort™ glass

Comfort glass provides a significant improvement in thermal protection over clear glass. It blocks nearly all infrared heat and fade causing UV rays while letting in abundant natural light.
ComfortPlus™ glass

ComfortPlus™ glass

ComfortPlus glass provides even greater thermal protection while virtually eliminating fade causing UV rays.
Comfort glazings + blinds

Comfort glazings + blinds

For even greater control over thermal performance and interior light levels, combine VELUX Comfort glass or ComfortPlus glass with VELUX blinds. The chart to the left shows the effects of combining ComfortPlus glass with an interior LightBlock™ shade and an exterior HeatBlock™ awning.

Thermal protection, VELUX Comfort glazings

In addition to providing excellent thermal protection, VELUX Comfort™ glazings protect your interior spaces by blocking up to 83% of the sun's fade-causing rays.
